Money management advice is a blessingPosted by Phil Marshall on 27/09/2011 23:46
A free course is being offered in Burscough to anyone wanting to learn how to better manage their household budgets, as the pennies start to pinch.
St John the Baptist parish church, Burscough, is putting on the short course aimed at teaching people how to chart their household income and take control of their personal finances.
Members of the church wanted to help their local community to best handle the economic climate, so they have undergone specialised training from award winning UK charity Christians Against Poverty, and are now offering the CAP Money debt prevention course.
Many households are feeling the squeeze more than ever on their disposable income. Jo Jones, one of St John's CAP Money coaches, said: “We hope that we can help people, quietly and confidentially, take control of their money rather than relying on guess work, so they can plan for the future and weather the storm. We’ve all got to get a bit more savvy about our money to get through these tough times. If you know how to save and budget effectively, it can have a hugely positive impact on the whole family.”
The course will run over 3 Monday evenings, 3rd,10th and 17th October, from 8-9.30 pm in the comfort of St John's Church Hall lounge, School Lane, Burscough. Places are free but it’s helpful if people can book in advance either by booking through the CAP website www.capmoney.org or by contacting Jo on 891640 or Eileen on 880463.
