Technical Team (Team Member-Projection Operator)

To control the projection system during church services.

Responsible To: Technical Coordinator (Phil Marshall)
Time Committment: Approx one service, once a month, on a rota basis
As part of this role a volunteer would have the following responsibilities:
  • Arrive one hour before a service is due to start (unless requested to arrive earlier by the service or worship leader) to begin preparations
  • Talk to all service participants regarding any material they wish to be displayed on the screen, to ensure that the resources are available and the timing of when these will be required are known. Check with the Worship Group Leader the number of repeats of song verses and the order of these.
  • Ensure that the equipment is powered and is fully operational
  • Ensure that the correct information is shown on the screen(s) at the correct time during the service
  • Record audio information from the service onto the projection computer
  • At the end of the service shut down and pack away any of the equipment that you have been using
  • Report any concerns (eg missing/incorrect song words, equipment failures etc.) to the Technical Coordinator (Phil Marshall)

A volunteer in this role would require some or all of the following attributes:
  • Able to use a computer with confidence
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Able to stay calm and not panic when something goes wrong during a service, using own initiative to try to resolve any problems that may occur
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Reliable

In order for someone to be able to perform this role the following training and support will be given:
  • Initial training and ongoing support arranged by the Technical Coordinator (Phil Marshall)
  • Mentoring support by an experienced Projection Operator until confident of operating alone
  • Ongoing training to address any specific difficulties encountered
