Technical Team (Team Member-PA Operator)

To operate the PA Desk and ensure that the correct levels of sound are maintained throughout services.

Responsible To: Technical Coordinator
Time Committment: Services on a rota basis (approx. one per month)
As part of this role a volunteer would have the following responsibilities:
  • Arrive at church at least 1 hour before services start
  • Power PA Desk up at the power sockets
  • Check the power and sound levels of the mics that will be used during the service
  • Ensure those involved in the service have been given a mic
  • Check with worship group which mics they intend to use
  • Test the sound levels with the Worship Group
  • Maintain correct sound levels throughout service
  • At end of service collect mics and check they are stored away correctly, avoiding damage
  • Turn off the PA Desk after service at the power sockets
  • Ensure that the PA Desk area is tidy
  • Lock PA Desk and return keys to correct place
  • Liaise with the PA Coordinator regarding any concerns

A volunteer in this role would require some or all of the following attributes:
  • Able to operate the PA Desk with confidence, once trained
  • An interest in technical support is desirable
  • Reliable

In order for someone to be able to perform this role the following training and support will be given:
  • Initial training and ongoing support arranged by the PA Coordinator and/or an experienced PA Desk Operator
  • Mentoring support will be provided by an experienced PA Desk operator until the team member feels confident that they are able to operate alone
