How can I give to support the work of St John's in Burscough and beyond?

Members of the church contribute to the life and work of the church in many different ways. Whilst the information below relates to financial giving, other pages on this site explain the variety of ways that you can get involved and contribute to God’s work in Burscough through St. John's.

A letter from Peter, our treasurer, was circulated during September 2013 outlining Standing Order Mandates and Gift Aid Declarations.  This letter can be read here.

If you would like to make a donation to St John's there are three main ways you can do this.

1. Regularly

You can give regularly by :

  • setting up a standing order with your bank - if you would like details on how to set this up, please contact the Church Treasurer. All correspondence will be in confidence and acknowledged.  The Standing Order Mandate can be downloaded from here.
  • joining the weekly envelope scheme.  Please contact the Parish Administrator for more information.
  • Through your employers payroll giving scheme (this only applies if your employer runs such a scheme – your Human Resources department can provide details on this).

2. One-off

  • A regular collection is taken at all Sunday services.
  • If you would like to give by a cheque, please contact to the Church Treasurer (address below) and make your cheque payable to St. John’s PCC.
  • You may also like to consider making a donation to St. John’s in your will. Please ask your solicitor when you make or change your will, or ask us for more information.

Tax Efficient Giving

If you pay UK tax (Income or Capital Gains Tax) and would like us to be able to claim back the basic rate tax, you will need to fill in, sign and return to us an ongoing gift aid declaration if you have not done so already.  The benefit to St John's is that we can recover the basic rate of income tax, currently 25p for each pound given. (If you pay higher rate tax, you may recover this through your own tax return.)  The Gift Aid form is available to download here.

If you have any questions on these or other ways of giving, please contact the Church Treasurer on 01704 891612 or write to:
