Weddings

WeddingsTo enquire about getting married at St John’s, please contact Jean Orritt, the Parish Administrator.  Once your initial enquiry has been made, a member of the clergy will contact you to progress your plans.  You can find out more about getting married in the Church of England at http://www.yourchurchwedding.org/.

Once a year, usually in March,we hold a marriage preparation day to which all couples booked to be married in the coming year are invited and strongly encouraged to attend.  We aim not only to make your wedding day as special as possible but also to help prepare you for your future married life together.

Baptisms

BaptismsIf you would like your child to be baptised at St John’s, please contact Jean Orritt, the Parish Administrator.  Once your initial enquiry has been made, a member of the baptism team will contact you to explain our baptism preparation and to progress your plans.

We run a three session baptism preparation course which all parents are encouraged to attend, along with godparents and other family members if you wish.  The course, consisting of three informal and interactive 45 minute sessions, is held at 8:15pm on the first Monday of each month in either the church hall or the church.  The sessions cover the meaning of baptism, the role of parents and godparents and the baptism service.  It is a rolling programme which you can join at any point.  Once two sessions have been completed, a date for baptism can then be arranged.

We also have a service of baptism by full immersion for any adults wishing to be baptised, usually around Easter time.  If you are an adult interested in being baptised, please contact Rev Richard Jones.
